Meeting of Social Justice Group’s Transportation Working Group scheduled for Sept 3
The Transportation Working Group will meet at 7 pm on Sept 3 at St. James Anglican Church to discuss next steps in light of the results of the study on rural transportation (see article right). All are welcome.
Study on rural transportation options
The Rural Ontario Institute and the Ontario Health Communities Coalition are collaborating to study effective models and emerging innovation in rural regional transportation. The study should be finished in June 2014.Read more>>
Report on meeting with Township Council
On the evening of December 16, the Council of Centre Wellington met and considered our request for an “emergency” grant to complement our other fundraising and keep the Community Bus Service operating. Unfortunately, we were not successful in meeting our immediate objective of getting a $5,000 grant. The bus service has suspended operations as of Dec 14.Read more >>
Community Bus Service
Transportation is a significant problem for those living in poverty. It’s also a problem other people without access to cars – seniors who can’t or don’t want to drive, and students – would like to use a bus service as well. With the support of Elliott Coach Lines, we started up a Community Bus Service on June 19, 2013.Read more >>
